Prof. Dr. Norbert Leitgeb

Prof. Dr. Norbert Leitgeb is Head of the Institute of Health Care Engineering at Graz University of Technology and Head of the European Notified Body of Medical Devices PMG, Dean of Study Biomedical Engineering, and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. His main field of research are biologic interactions of ELF and RF electromagnetic fields including numerical dosimetry and field measurement, health risk assessment and risk management, medical devices safety and conformity assessment, and development and assessment of new approaches in health care. Among other functions Norbert was steering committee member of European COST Actions 244, 244bis and the EU Project EMF-NET, and for 5 years chairman of Cost Action 281. He was chairman of the German Committee of Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection, vice-chair of the German Commission of Radiation Protection and member of WHO International Advisory Committee, and is consulting member of the International Commission of Non-Ionising Radiation Protection (ICNIRP). Norbert wrote 6 books on potential health risks of EMF, and safety in electromedical technology, and published more than 250 scientific papers.
